²ÝÁñÉçÇø Day at the fair scheduled for July 29

The University of ²ÝÁñÉçÇø Fairbanks will host ²ÝÁñÉçÇø Day at the Tanana Valley State Fair on Tuesday, July 29.

²ÝÁñÉçÇø employees, students, alumni and friends will receive $1 off admission by wearing ²ÝÁñÉçÇø apparel or showing their PolarExpress card. The day will include ²ÝÁñÉçÇø activities throughout the fairgrounds.

The University Fire Department’s fire truck, a hockey slap-shot net, a corn hole game and the giant inflatable Nanook will be set up in Totem Square from noon to 7 p.m. Nook, ²ÝÁñÉçÇø’s mascot, will be on site from 1-3 p.m.

Inside the Borealis Pavilion, ²ÝÁñÉçÇø will have several special exhibits and activities:

•     Build marshmallow structures inside an inflatable igloo.
•     Visit an inflatable science dome and learn about the Gulf of ²ÝÁñÉçÇø.
•     Learn about reindeer and muskoxen.
•     Participate in hands-on science activities.

In addition to these special activities, ²ÝÁñÉçÇø also will have booths in the Borealis Pavilion during the fair. Visitors can meet museum experts and student researchers, learn about recreation opportunities on campus and find more than 125 free ²ÝÁñÉçÇø Cooperative Extension Service publications covering gardening, energy, food preparation and more. Cooperative Extension will host several 4-H activities on ²ÝÁñÉçÇø Day, including rabbit, cavy and poultry shows, arts and crafts, and photography.
